The Citywest Transit Hub will no longer be able to accommodate International Protection Seekers due to capacity issues, the Department of Integration has confirmed.

A spokesperson said: “The outlook for accommodation for people fleeing the war in Ukraine is also challenging. “The Transit Hub will remain open for all other matters, including processing of accommodation for Ukrainian Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection . The International Protection Accommodation Service will continue to provide accommodation for IP families with children.

Any International Protection Seeker who cannot be accommodated at Citywest will have their details taken and they will be contacted when accommodation does become available for them.The Government expects that the accommodation of both Ukrainian refugees and International Protection applicants will continue to pose challenges into the new year.
