A defunct hotel at the convergence of Interstate 70 and Interstate 25 will reopen some time next year as apartments for people leaving homelessness.
The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless announced Thursday that it had bought the former Clarion Inn at 200 W. 48th Ave. for $24 million. After renovations, 107 of the 215 rooms will be used as transitional housing for people working toward more-permanent homes, and the rest will be long-term supportive housing for people who aren’t likely to succeed on their own.
The Denver Office of Housing Stability and the Colorado Department of Local Affairs each chipped in more than $10 million in stimulus funds they received to help fund the purchase. Adams County gave the remaining $3.8 million.
