Clemson College Republicans are under fire online after making a statement about a campus drag tradition.
A college Republicans organization has garnered significant online attention and criticism after issuing an outraged statement over a campus drag show.was scheduled for April 9, as part of the university’s campus Pride Week programming. On April 10, the Clemson College Republicans issued a statement to their Instagram and Twitter accounts “condemning” the drag show as “chock-full of sexual degeneracy that spits in the face of the Christian population that currently attends Clemson.
“It is clear that the normalization of this type of behavior is the goal of many student organizations and university officials alike,” the statement continued, naming Clemson's vice president of student affairs Chris Miller for having been “recorded receiving a lap dance from one of the drag performers.” The letter accuses the university of promoting “ideologies” about transgender people and drag performers.
