Kindell Smith, 32, a member of the 8Ave street gang, was found guilty of multiple federal charges after a four-day trial, authorities say.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland man who prosecutors say is a member of the 8Ave street gang has been convicted by a federal jury of multiple drug charges involving the distribution of fentanyl and other drugs.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, officers with Southeast Area Law Enforcement began investigating Smith in April 2020. Investigators reportedly saw Smith dealing fentanyl and crack cocaine near the 3200 block of Central Avenue. Officers were able to get the men out of the vehicle, reportedly seeing Smith attempting to hide a gun under the driver’s seat. The gun was found, along with various amounts of fentanyl and crack cocaine. Smith is prohibited from having a firearm because of previous drug and assault convictions.
