Guardians third baseman José Ramírez will participate in Monday’s home run derby . Ramírez turned down invitations to join the derby in the past, and he and the team mutually agreed that he sit out the derby in both 2018 and 2021,. But this year, he finally gets a chance to prove himself going against some of the games biggest sluggers.
, replacing Jose Altuve. The Houston second baseman was the elected starter following the fan vote, but has elected not to participate while he deals with a knee injury. Ramírez and Cleveland reliever Emmanuel Clase are the two other Guardians joining him on the American League roster.
