Glen narrowly beat Lavey in All-Ireland club football action, sending new Tyrone boss Malachy O'Rourke into a double job for now. Meanwhile, St. Mary's Ardee dominated Louth with their star forwards, Cuala reached their first Dublin senior final since 1988, and Antrim hurling champions Cushendall survived a scare in extra time.
All-Ireland club football champions Glen were put to the pin of their collar but beat Lavey with a stoppage time point from Conleth McGuckian, meaning new Tyrone boss Malachy O'Rourke will be double jobbing for a while longer. Elsewhere, St. Mary's Ardee looked hugely impressive in Louth with their pool of quality forwards, including four county men - Ciaran Keenan, Tom Jackson, Liam Jackson and Ciaran Downey - too much for Newtown blues as they made it through to another final.
Con O'Callaghan's Cuala shone in the Dublin semi-final, defeating Ballymun to take their place in a first senior final since 1988. Antrim and Ulster hurling champions Cushendall got a big scare in the local semi-finals, before defeating St. John's after extra-time. In football the likes of Padraig Pearses , Inniskeen , Crosserlough and Newbridge all had wins and stayed alive in knockout contest.
