The Maritime Coastguard Agency is urging parents to take action if they head to a packed out beach during a heatwave
Parents are heaping praise on a "fantastic" beach safety tip from the Maritime Coastguard Agency for this summer's trips to the seaside.
The Met Office has indicated a gradual ramp-up in warmth leading into a blisteringly hot Monday. Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, Dan Suri, shed light on the situation: "Tropical Storm Debby in North America is helping to strengthen the jet stream, and is causing it to meander over the Atlantic. This will allow hot air to move into the UK later this weekend, and early next week.
Losing a child on a crowded beach is surely at the top of every parent's nightmare scenario, but now, thanks to an astute piece of advice from the Maritime Coastguard Agency, guardians can feel more at ease about their kids' wellbeing on busy coastlines. The spokesperson elaborated on preventive measures for parents: "With a beach safety wristband, we can easily contact parents and guardians to let them know their children have been found. Write your mobile phone number on your child's wristband so that you can be called and reunited if you get separated."
