Coldplay members Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion performed for the first time without bandmate Guy Berryman at a gig in Australia on the Music of the Spheres tour

Band Coldplay performed for the first time without its full line-up this week after bass player Guy Berryman fell "very, very sick" shortly before a concert in Australia.

Chris said: "Our bass player, Guy, is very very sick and will not be, for the first time ... he's not gonna be able to play today. So we'll have a slightly different show and we'll do our best to make it amazing, and I know that it will be amazing, because we're in Melbourne with all of you beautiful people."

Alongside a photo from the tour, the band wrote in the post: "Thank you Melbourne. Tonight was the first time in our band's history that we've played a show without all four members onstage. Guy was taken ill unexpectedly just before the show. Thank you for carrying us through."
