I watched Derry’s win over Westmeath last Saturday and there is an argument to be made that it was their worst performance of the Championship, and that’s saying something.
You know the one: “I get knocked down, but I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down…”
The name of the band in question doesn’t make a whole pile of sense and neither does anything about Derry’s season since they played Donegal in April. In two of those years we went all the way to the All-Ireland final, while we got to a semi-final in another. 2018 was the outlier, with the famous exit to Kildare in Newbridge.

Amazingly, last Saturday’s win against Cork delivered back-to-back wins in the Championship for the first time since 2021.
