Author Colm Toibin is the latest Irish person to reveal their LA wildfire hell as the blazes rage on for a second week.
Colm’s books include 2009 bestseller Brooklyn that was turned into a movie with stars Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson. He described from LA the scenes being like "the end of the world". He has not been outside for over a week since the fires started last Tuesday because they’re "extraordinary" and have created "stuff in the air that no one understands."
"Once it began, the embers would blow so fast, and the fire would spread so fast. We were just lucky. It is possible that the winds will start up very badly again."
