Injuries cloud status of Morgan, Kornieck. Wave expect a big crowd at Snapdragon Stadium for 7 p.m. match.
Injuries to stars Alex Morgan and Taylor Kornieck will make the Wave’s job tougher Sunday night in a playoff match against Chicago.
Morgan led the National Women’s Soccer League with 15 goals, despite missing the final two games with a knee injury and missing three others while with the U.S. national team. “We know we’re going to have to be defensively very good,” said Stoney, a former defender whose team earned a draw in its last match — minus Morgan and Kornieck — by blanking North Carolina.
