Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar is the comedian's favourite to impersonate.

A year is a long time in politics but for comedian Matt Forde the last 12 months have been life-changing after being diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cancer.

“The thought of not being there really just was quite hard to stomach so I’ve pushed myself to be able to do it.” Walking, which was not possible for months after the surgery, has improved and he’s able to “wobble about at home” without help now but expects to have to use walking sticks when he comes to Edinburgh.

“My shows have always bashed all the parties – Tory, Labour, SNP, the Lib Dems, the Greens, Ukip, Reform. I’ve always gone for all of them so that won’t change, it’ll just be the order I do it in, I suppose.” The turmoil of the SNP in recent years has given him plenty of material but the legacy of Nicola Sturgeon, and the “basically non-existent” one of Humza Yousaf, is no laughing matter.

Matt said his upcoming show is based around the general election and the rise of a government which could see Labour’s success replicated in 2026 at Holyrood.
