Talk show host and comedian billmaher told jimmykimmel that 'comedians are in the crosshairs' of free speech and cancel culture.
“Comedians are under attack,” Maher said while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday night. “It’s not right.”The two hosts remembered SNL comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried, who died earlier this week after a long illness.“He never answered a question seriously,” Kimmel said of Gottfried. “He was truly a comedian’s comedian.”
Maher and Kimmel noted that Gottfried had faced criticism for sometimes using insensitive content within his routines, but Maher defended him, saying, “We have to end this war on jokes.”“How do we know where the line is until we go over it?” Maher asked. “You should be clapping us on the back for that.”
