Members of a US Senate committee have voted to approve the nomination of Edward Crawford as US Ambassador to Ireland
Last month, a confirmation hearing was held for Edward Crawford, the man nominated by President Donald Trump to be the next ambassador.
The Ohio businessman appeared before the committee and said he was grateful to Mr Trump for his nomination. He added that if he is confirmed, he will bring a firm commitment to the Northern Ireland peace process.His name will now go to the floor of the US Senate for a further vote at a future date.Kevin O'Malley was the last holder of the post but his term ended when former president Barack Obama left office.
