Adam Mohamed Lafdil is a well-known figure in the Passage West community
Members of the community have rallied behind a well-known Cork man after a medical scare meant he needed a heart transplant to save his life, with a fundraiser being launched to support him and his family.
The much loved Cork man has most recently been working security at Cork Airport, becoming a valued member of the team. He said: "Overall I'm okay at the moment. Still sick, but am taking the medication and looking after myself. I'm spending 24 hours in my room up here. If I do leave at all, it's not for long and I take my medicine with me.
"Sadly this is no longer the case. After a further relapse of Health in CUH in September, he is now back in The Mater Hospital in Dublin where he will remain for the foreseeable future. "The heart transplant will be the beginning of a very long road to recovery, as for now, Mohamed must wait in Dublin until a suitable heart becomes available.
