Eight community buildings are putting on special activities including: a cinema club with breakfast, coffee mornings, chair aerobics, yoga, choir sessions, cooking lessons, free bingo, crafting, boxing, gardening, walking groups, with free food in some activities., on Whitby Avenue, has been coordinating the Warm Space Programme and hosts the Unite meetings.
Intact CEO, Denise Hartley MBE, said: “I’m really proud of how the community has come together to try and help as many people as possible this winter.“Many people are really scared about what might happen over the next few months, with some afraid to put their heating on during the day. Sky high energy bills, soaring food prices and many people becoming isolated & lonely.Important financial support for the warm spaces programme has come from the Ingol and Tanterton Neighbourhood Council.
Chair Cllr Bruce Ellison, said: “The council has been supporting vital community centres for many years but this winter we wanted to use some of our financial reserves to help the people who will be hit hardest by the cost of living crisis.”
