Work is already under way on a new development
Neighbours living on a private road said they "do not want people to look into their homes" as work starts on a new 20-flat development. This will replace the 28 bedroom care home which was demolished in 2017 on a plot of land located at the corner of Burton Road and Highclere Drive, in Carlton.
Monika Stawicka, who works for Women's Aid, said: "We have lived here for about a year, so when we moved here it was already decided."The 45-year-old added: "We were worried about the plans. I have been teaching my children how to draw the curtains before they get out of the shower or in the morning.
"I have seen the plans and I just feel like there is too much concrete. It is not as good as it used to be." "If each flat has two cars - that would be a nightmare. I am not too worried about privacy because I am quite protected. My house is not overlooking the flats, like other families. But I understand why people's homes that are just opposite the development are worried."
