A pair of U.S. House of Representatives committees are asking election officials in Ohio & 3 other states to provide them with information on how they’re countering election disinformation and misinformation & protecting the integrity of federal elections.
Sabrina Eaton, cleveland.com
“The Committees are seeking to understand the scope and scale of election misinformation in your state, the impact that this flood of false information has had on election administration, the risks it poses for upcoming federal elections, and the steps that your organization and local election administrators have taken in response,” according to the letters from Oversight chair Carolyn Maloney of New York and Administration chair Zoe Lofgren of California.
Sleeth, who serves as Warren County’s Director of Elections, says his board will discuss the congressional letter at a meeting on Friday. His group plans to seek an extension on the committees’ May 4 deadline for providing the information because its members are busy running the state’s May 3 primary.
