It cost Leitrim county board around €250,000 to travel to New York in this year’s Championship, when the Exiles claimed their first ever Championship victory following a penalty shootout.
Connacht Council chief John Prenty has confirmed that Mayo will travel to face New York in next year’s Championship.
Connacht Council secretary Prenty told The Mayo News: “We [the Connacht Council] met and had a really good sensible discussion about it, and the general consensus was that it was only right to finish out the existing rota. The Connacht Council contributed €50,000 towards Leitrim’s expenses but Prenty said that “the cost of the trip for the team going over can only be brought down by bringing less people in the official party”.
