Connacht Rugby have promised more contract news is in the offing after securing the future of two of their most established players signed from Leinster plus a progressing home-grown talent

Former Leinster flanker Murphy has penned a new two-year deal having made a successful return to the side this season after taking a year off to complete his medical qualifications. He has played 13 times this term.

Hawkshaw and de Buitlear have signed one-year extensions. Hawkshaw, a former Ireland under-20 Grand Slam winner, also joined the westerners from Leinster three years ago and has made 24 starts in 41 appearances for Connacht, scoring eight tries in that spell, and has played at No.10 as well as at centre.

De Buitlear is a home-grown product of the Connacht pathway system, having played at An Ghaeltacht Rugbai and Scoil Chuimsitheach Chiaráin before coming through the Connacht Academy. The hooker made his senior debut away to Zebre in February 2023, scoring a try, and has made 13 appearances since then.
