Conor McGregor is convinced that Cristiano Ronaldo is going to finish top of the scoring charts at Euro 2024, but the Portugal star drew a blank in his first match
Conor McGregor has been told he has wasted his money after throwing £60,000 behind Cristiano Ronaldo at Euro 2024 .
Lukas Provod’s superb strike had put the Czechs on course for a shock in Group F, but Robin Hranac's own goal after a mistake from goalkeeper Jindrich Stane levelled things for Portugal. Diogo Jota had a goal ruled out for offside against Ronaldo before Sergio Conceicao smashed in a loose ball from close range to win it.
Posting a screenshot of a £60,000 bet on Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot at Euro 2024 – at odds of 14/1 – McGregor wrote: “60 G’s on @Cristiano to retain his Euro Golden Boot. Siuuu! #SwipeToSeeTheDoubleBicepCelebration.” He has scored a whopping 14 goals in the competition since netting his first against Greece back in 2004. That puts him five strikes ahead of France legend Michel Platini and seven clear of Antoine Griezmann, who is the next nearest among current players. But McGregor’s followers on social media are not sure about his bet. “That’s 60gs lost,” wrote one in the comments section. “And that’s officially the start on the Conor's curse,” another said. Someone else added: “Bro has 0 ball knowledge.
