Katona defeated Cody Gibson by unanimous decision to take home victory for Team McGregor in the 135lb division.
Conor McGregor has hailed Brad Katona's work-rate after the Canadian secured victory in the TUF Finale bantamweight competition at UFC 292 last night.
Despite McGregor's absence from the event, Katona, who is coached by John Kavanagh, put in a terrific performance to outwork his performance and become the first two-time winner of The Ultimate Fighter in the show's illustrious history.Commenting on Katona's win, McGregor praised his student's performance and hailed him for his commitment to the support, which the Dubliner believes is even greater than his own.
"See Brad saying in cage about waking up Sunday morning with his coffee and watching his competition. He is ahead of me with his commitment right there alone. I’m out, good night. Thanks Brad. On the ball. F**k this. Good night. Another two sessions tomorrow. Will watch rest then," wrote McGregor on Twitter.
McGregor had been a coach on this latest season of The Ultimate Fighter opposite Michael Chandler, whose team took home victory in the 155lb competition thanks to Kurt Holobaugh's submission win over Austin Hubbard. The Irishman is due to face Chandler in his UFC return later this year, a return which McGregor claims will take place this December.
