Conor McManus, a legendary Monaghan GAA player, has retired from inter-county football at the age of 37 after an illustrious 18-year career. The three-time All-Star winner, widely considered one of the best players of his generation, departs with a legacy of two Ulster titles, National League Division Two and Three crowns, a Railway Cup, and numerous remarkable individual performances.
Monaghan GAA described it as the "end of an era" as Conor McManus retired from inter-county football on Friday.
Widely recognised as one of the best players of his generation, McManus won three All Stars awards and scored 9-291 in championship football. "Francie our long standing kit-man, coaches, physios, , doctors, sponsors, Monaghan Co Board, and all those who have helped along the way."Monaghan people and fans are the best in the country, sharing our best and worst days with absolute loyalty.
Although injuries curtailed his powers in recent seasons, he still continued to inspire his county with trademark long-range scores."In a glorious career which spanned three decades Conor performed consistently at a high level always pursuing success while preparing, training and playing to the highest standard of competition, passion and excellence."
