Activity in the Republic’s construction sector contracted for a second consecutive month in June as work on commercial projects “decreased sharply”.’s latest index for the construction sector here fell to 47.5 in June from 49.8 the previous month. A score below 50 signifies a contraction in activity.

The rate of input cost inflation quickened to a 14-month high on the back of rising charges by suppliers and ongoing geopolitical issues, which have caused supply chain delays. “Activity rose strongly for the fourth successive month in June. As we flagged back in February, this may not result in increased housing completions within the current calendar year,” he said.
