The British routed the Continental Army and Washington sent militia into the battle, but after seeing the Continental Army fleeing, they too began to flee. Washington rode up with reinforcements, rallied the fleeing militia, and led a counterattack forcing the British to retreat, according to a society brochure.
When the American Army fled the fight American troops and artillery arrived and fired dozens of shots helping to push back the British. Officers barked out orders ad soldiers formed groups and fired on the enemy.Washington had another victory in Princeton.
