Madeleine McCann documentary coming to Netflix - but Kate and Gerry refused to take part
The streaming giant will release a serialised drama about Maddie ahead of the 12th anniversary of the day she went missing.The documentary will examine the tragic story and show brand new interviews with those close to the inquiry.Kate and Gerry McCann were not involved with the making of the documentary - and neither were any of the 'Tapas Seven' holiday friends.
Netflix is predicting huge success for the documentary, which reportedly cost up to £20 million to make.A friend of the McCann’s said: "We understand it is a serialised drama but neither Kate, Gerry nor their holiday friends and main players have co-opertated in any shape or form. And we have no idea who the actors are. We believe it is coming out very soon, within the next two weeks and before the next anniversary.
The Maddie documentary's title is being kept secret for the time being, as are the names of those people who have been interviewed.Amaral is embroiled in a legal battle with the McCanns after accussing them of faking her kidnapping his his book 'The Truth of the Lie'. Metropolitan Police have asked the Home Office for around £300,000, according to Sky News , with current government funding about to run out.The Madeleine McCann investigation was scaled down in 2015 but a small group of authorities in both the UK and England have reportedly been exploring "one final theory" in the case.
