Almost a year on since the plans for the Brick Veil were approved by Preston City Council, the proposals have made it through the final hoop for approval. After being put under pressure from his constituents Wyre and Preston North MP Ben Wallace 'called in' the decision and asked for the government to make the final decision.

Locals living in Broughton had fiercely objected to the new mosque, arguing that it wasn't needed in Broughton and would bring an added risk of flooding as well as excessive traffic and noise pollution to the area around D'Urton Lane and James Towers Way.
