The Spotswood police officer struck a fire hydrant and a tree, according to East Brunswick police.
officer responding to an emergency call early Friday was injured in a single-vehicle crash in East Brunswick, authorities said.
The officer’s lights and sirens were on when the patrol car hit standing water and hydroplaned near the intersection of Old Stage Road and Sandlewood Drive just before 3 a.m., said. The vehicle then struck and fire hydrant and a tree before stopping. Emergency workers brought the officer to a local hospital for what East Brunswick police said are minor injuries.The officer was responding to a call for a medical emergency — an unresponsive person — at Woodmere Senior Housing on Crescent Avenue, a Spotswood police spokesman said.
