Copart, the online vehicle auctioneer, has agreed to acquire ACV Auctions for approximately $1.9 billion in an all-cash deal. This acquisition marks Copart's entry into the dealer-to-dealer wholesale remarketing sector, as it seeks to diversify its business in response to slowing vehicle volume growth. ACV Auctions, which owns the Irish online car auctioneer TradeBid, operates a digital marketplace connecting dealers and commercial buyers of used vehicles. The purchase price represents a significant premium over ACV's recent stock price, and the deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
