A thief stole a large chunk of copper wiring from telecommunications giant AT&T, leaving some north Houston residents without internet access for several days, the company confirmed.
AT&T customers were without internet connection for multiple days after a copper wire theft in north Houston.The thief stole about a large chunk of copper wiring from telecommunications giant AT&T, leaving some residents who live near the intersection of Parker and the Hardy Tollway without internet access for several days, the company confirmed. The service went out on Feb. 9 and was still out on Feb. 14, according to KPRC. Access has since been restored, the company said on Tuesday.
The thieves target electrical substations, cellular towers, telephone land lines, railroads, water wells, construction sites and vacant homes,"We are working with local law enforcement, who is investigating to find those responsible," according to AT&T officials in a statement to KPRC."Tipsters can remain anonymous, so we encourage anyone with information to call local law enforcement or AT&T Asset Protection at 800-807-4205.
