They returned to The Metropole Hotel in Cork city, the very same venue where they held their wedding reception in 1954. Greeted with a red carpet welcome and a stunning bouquet of flowers, they were joined by their four daughters for a delightful meal, reminiscing about seven decades of 'love, laughter, and memories'.
Their special anniversary celebration took place at the hotel, although their actual anniversary falls later this year in December. The Metropole Hotel shared a video of the red carpet moment on their social media, captioning it: 'Today, the red carpet was rolled out for two very special guests. Billy (95) and Maureen (93) are back at The Metropole Hotel, where they celebrated their wedding reception in 1954. Marking their Platinum Wedding Anniversary, they enjoyed a special lunch with their four daughters. 70 years of love, laughter, and memories!'
