Cork is set for a particularly difficult day with a Status Yellow rain warning issued. Heavy rain, possibly leading to flooding, is expected across the south of the county from the afternoon. The warning remains in place until 8am on Friday. The rest of the country can also expect heavy rainfall, potentially turning into sleet in Ulster as temperatures drop overnight.
Cork is bracing for a particularly miserable day but washout conditions are forecast for many areas of the country as Met Eireann delivers its weather forecast for Thursday, February 13.
The Cork weather warning comes into effect at 1pm this afternoon and will remain valid until 8am on Friday, with the possible impacts of the downpours including spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions. A spokesperson for Met Eireann said: "This morning will be mostly cloudy. Many areas will be dry and there'll be some light rain or drizzle in parts of Munster and Connacht. Heavier rain will spread northeastwards over Munster and Connacht through the afternoon and evening with spot flooding possible near the south coast. Moderate east to southeast winds will increase fresh to strong and gusty. Highest temperatures 4 to 8 degrees.
