Some rooms were advertised at up to €1,000 for a single night in the hotel
A Cork hotel has issued an apology after room prices shot up due to an employee error during the floods in Midleton spurred on by Storm Babet.
Residents who were forced to find accommodation were met with massively high prices however, with some rooms costing as much as €1,000 for a single night when booking through third-party websites such as Booking.com.This whopping price was a massive shock to anyone who checked the hotel’s website on Friday when rooms were advertised at €170 per night, what people would normally expect for a midweek room.
Radisson Blu management also added that the error caused the hotel website to display incorrect information regarding the availability of rooms. Management stressed that the price increase occurred before the team had no knowledge of the severe localised flooding.
