He described the situation as a 'waking nightmare'
Cork man David Lynch is appealing for help from the public after losing his dad and family home in a house fire just before Christmas.
"At 7.30pm I went over to get him a few more bits and pieces in Lidl and Dunnes in the village. I left him by the fireplace and his dog Romeo was by his feet," David told Neil Prendeville on Red FM. "When I was driving back to the estate I saw all of the commotion. It was a waking nightmare; I couldn't comprehend it."
The software engineer added that he has lost the majority of his personal belongings, apart from a few sentimental photographs which have given him comfort."Most of them were damaged, but in the centre there were one or two photos I could salvage so that, for me, was something to treasure and to hold on to."
"First of all, I need to get a structural engineer to assess the structure of the house, if it's safe or if it needs to be demolished," he said.
