Cork comic Chris Kent, who has been drawing large crowds in Ireland and the UK, has been named the September Cork Person of the Month. He left his job as an electrician to pursue a career in comedy
Chris Kent, hailing from Cork City’s northside, is September’s Cork Person of the Month and will go forward for possible selection as the 2023 Cork Person of the Year, the winner of which will be announced at a gala lunch in the Metropole Hotel on January 26, 2024.
He emphasised the unique aspect of extensive crowd interaction, a new experience for him: "Theres a lot of interaction with the crowd which is something I haven't really done before." Reflecting on the incident, he added: "Thats probably my favourite piece of the show, feels like a bit of therapy for me or something" he laughed.Returning to Cork after more than a decade away, Chris expressed his delight adding: "Its amazing, I am back 3 years, I didn't live here for over 10 years so it's really nice being back."
