'All we're looking for is them to set the record straight,' says a local representative
The people of a town in North Cork are demanding an apology from the BBC following an episode of the Graham Norton Show in which "gravely insulting" remarks were made about it.The extremely popular show aired on BBC1 last Friday and featured a woman during the Big Red Chair segment of the show. During it, members of the public sit in the chair and try to tell a story that impresses Graham and his guests to avoid being flipped backwards.
Visibly taken aback by her comments, Graham replies: "It's got a giant pencil in it, hasn't it?" to which Zoe responds with her crudest remark: "It's got a bridge if people want to jump off it". "I've had calls from people since Saturday night very upset about the town being portrayed like that," Cllr McCarthy told CorkBeo.
"Fermoy has great, friendly people who will always make you feel welcome. It always looks very picturesque, a place you could stop and have a coffee or a drink - if Graham Norton comes he will see that".
