Acting career Maureen got her start in the theatre and made her debut in a stage production of The Knack at the Palace Theatre, Watford. The actress worked in theatre for over fifty years, starring in When We Are Married, My Mother Said I Never Should, Old Money and The Best Man. She has also played two characters in Coronation Street. Her first role was as snooty landlady Lillian Spencer for six episodes in 2002. Her character was employed by Fred Elliott to run The Rovers Return Inn.
