ITV Corrie fans threaten to boycott soap over animal 'cruelty' storyline
Twisted firestarter Hope Stape sparked the wrath of Coronation Street fans again as she set her sights on a new target - Peanut the dog. The troubled 12-year-old confided in her friend Sam in tonight's Corrie how she intended to have her revenge for her pet Cilla the chinchilla's murder, with the finger pointed at Peanut, the pet dachshund of Beth and Kirk Sutherland.
On Hope’s instructions, Sam reluctantly conned Maria Windass into handing over Vin-Diesel the stuffed weasel from the barber shop. After ordering Sam to go, Hope carefully placed Vin Diesel’s mouth around the skin of her arm. Shortly after, Hope was seen approaching Peanut and letting out a scream. Viewers were then horrified as they realised Hope's plan could lead to the demise of the cute pooch, who has been on the famous cobbles since 2016.
Viewers flocked to Twitter to warn they would be switching off if anythiing happened to Peanut. @fussyMcWhiskers said: "Corrie If I am subjected to Peanut cruelty on top of everything else, it's over!" And @DionPetrie said: "Poor Peanut."
