🍦 Cost of ice cream set to soar this summer as dairy farmers battle to secure animal feed 🐮 Many dairy products, such as butter, have already been subject to staggering price hikes

, with the summer treat becoming more expensive as manufacturers are confronted with rocketing prices., but food companies have warned that the worst is still to come as the cost of animal feed, raw ingredients, and packaging continues to rise.“Everything you could possibly imagine is going up in price,” said Dirk Mischendahl, director of Northern Bloc ice cream, which manufactures supermarkets’ own-brand ice cream lines alongside its own at its Leeds headquarters.

Dairy prices have shot up since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – sometimes referred to known as “the bread basket of the world” – as the war has left large portions of the planet’s wheat supply in jeopardy. “We’ve absorbed some cost increases because we had [a] stock of sugar and coconut milk powder, and some of the packaging… But things like milk and cream are fresh products you have to have to make a dairy ice cream.”“Dairy is going to become more expensive. [Increases of] 10 to 15 per cent are going to happen across everything,” he said.
