Sellers shaving off £12,000 from house prices to make a sale - but they'll continue to 'drift lower'
The report also found an uptick in buyer demand and the number of sales agreed in September, despite mortgage rates delivering a significant 20% reduction to household buying power compared with early 2022. "House prices will continue to drift lower, especially in southern England, ending the year 2-3% lower, meaning falling mortgage rates are required to boost activity and attract buyers back into the market."The number of animals being abandoned and neglected is still rising, according to the RSPCA.
More than 1,000 rabbits have been handed in to animal centres - so many that many RSPCA shelters are now at full capacity. Rents have jumped by an average of more than 8% this year, the survey by Cushman and Wakefield found. The average private sector rent outside London has increased by more than £7,600 a year, it added.
