Dublin City Council has refused to publish lifeguard logbooks that previously revealed a shocking pattern of antisocial behaviour at one of the capital’s most popular beaches.
Last week, Dollymount Strand was ranked among the most disappointing beaches in Ireland based on research by language-learning platform, Preply. Data relating to employees or other personnel remunerated from public funds does not constitute personal information under the Freedom of Information Act, however, nor does anything written or recorded by such individuals in the course of their role.In 2017, three people were pricked by discarded syringe needles over the course of just two days at Dollymount. They included a pregnant woman and a young girl, according to the lifeguards on duty.
