Lancaster Port Commission has launched a bid to extend its powers at Glasson Dock
Councillors at Lancaster City Council are being asked to consider sending their views to a government-linked body about Lancaster Port Commission’s bid to extend its powers at Glasson Dock and a riverside quay in Lancaster.

If they comment, they will need to agree the wording at the committee meeting in Morecambe on Thursday, August 31. If that is not possible, words can be agreed by email after and then sent to the Marine Management Organisation by the September deadline.
Coun Maddocks is one of two ward councillors at Glasson Dock. Separate to her request, the Marine Management Organisation included Lancaster City Council as a consultee and contacted council officers on July 13. Suggested wording for a planning response is: “Thank you for your correspondence of 13 July regarding the proposed Lancaster Port Commission harbour revision Order. Lancaster City Council’s local planning authority has an ongoing enforcement case regarding the planning status of a parcel of land within the proposed operational area . This case involves continuing discussions with the port’s planning representatives.
