Counting is continuing to fill Seanad seats on the Industrial and Commercial panel and the Administrative panel

There are nine seats to be filled on the Industrial and Commercial panel and a further seven seats on the Administrative panel.

Sinn Féin's Elisha McCallion, a former MP for the Foyle constituency and former MLA, has topped the poll with 95,000 votes. Ms Noone had served one term in the Seanad and had a high profile having chaired the Oireachtas Committee on the Eighth Amendment. The other five places went to two former Fianna Fáil TDs who had lost their Dáil seats in the general election in Pat Casey and Shane Cassells, as well as three councillors; Fine Gael’s John Cummins from Waterford, the Green Party’s Pauline O’Reilly from Galway and Dublin-based Labour councillor Marie Sherlock.

Fine Gael's Michael D'Arcy, the outgoing Minister of State with responsibility for Insurance, was elected. He lost out in the Wexford constituency in general election.
