One map shows the countries where women are doing the best when it comes to money, health, education, and rights
Gender parity in education, politics, health, and the workplace is still a long way off, per the World Economic Forum.
And in terms of those metrics, Scandinavian and Nordic countries are dominating, with the WEF's top five remaining unchanged from last year in the overall ranking. Taking a closer look at the four categories that make up the index, this Nordic country falls just short of the top 10 in the economic participation and opportunity category, taking the 11th spot with a score of 0.803 out of 1 and making this the country's lowest score of the four submetrics this year.
Its score for economic participation and opportunity slipped, however, due to a decrease in women's labor force participation and a decrease in wage equality, according to the authors. The report notes that the country was able to retain full parity, however, when it came to women's roles as professional and technical workers, putting the country at number one for this specific category part of the economic participation and opportunity metric.
"The score reflects a high level of female workforce participation, parity in the participation of women in professional and technical roles, and a level of parity in estimated earned income that is higher than 137 other countries," the WEF team said.Yannick Tylle/Getty Images
