Country singer Louise Morrissey opens up about her stunning German Shepherd dogs, Zumo and their most recent addition Bingo, how much they mean to her and what they bring to her stunning home
How did Zumo and Bingo come into your life? Zumo is the eldest, he’s around 13, and Bingo is the baby at six months old. We live on a farm and we wanted a dog because we have loads and loads of space, so we got Zumo. He is a lovely dog with a gorgeous temperament. All our neighbours know him and they know he’s lovely! He’s very good with my little grandnieces and grandnephews too.
Have you always been a fan of German Shepherds or was there any reason you wanted that breed in particular? I’ve always adored the breed and I love the look of them. But, growing up, I would have been scared of other people’s German Shepherds! I have always thought they were beautiful looking dogs, and now that I know them as well as I do, I can see that they really do have a beautiful temperament. It’s all about how you handle them and how you rear them – it’s so important.
What do Zumo and Bingo bring to your home, and your life in general? I love the big welcome you get after being away for a few hours. When I am away at a gig, they won’t go into their kennels until I’m home, they wait. They sit at the front door, and as soon as I come home they start jumping around and they will give me the biggest welcome. The same thing happens when Johnny comes home, and then they’ll go to bed quite happy.
