A couple aged in their 60s died following an extensive house fire in Swinford, Co Mayo which took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.Emergency fire services were called to a property at Deerpark, on the outskirts of Swinford, at around 2am.
The fire is understood to have spread throughout the home, and multiple units of the Mayo Fire Service from Swinford and nearby Charlestown spent a number of hours bringing it under control.Chief Fire Officer of Mayo County Fire Service, Tony Shevlin confirmed two deaths to the Irish Mirror. He said: "The neighbour's dog was barking in the night and so they got up to see what the problem was and discovered the house alight.
