Joe and June Pilkington have four children, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren
A couple who have been married for 70 years believe one of the secrets to a long and happy is "listening to one another".
"They went over there [...] my mum was a dressmaker and my dad was an optical lens worker. My dad could have done that back in the UK, but as it happened after they got married they found they were expecting my sister. The couple went on to have three more children - Christine, now 66, Jim, now 63, and Louise, now 56 - who were all born at home. June and Joe both rode a tandem and in 1992 returned to New Zealand to see friends and cycled all around the north island on one.
"They were keen cyclists. My dad certainly has been part of the local cycling club since he was in his teenage years and to be honest we think they're quite remarkable. They are always there for us, which is great.
