Simon Coveney agreed to make representations on behalf of TikTok to the European Commission after the company asked him to contact the agency over its decision to ban the app from official devices, the Business Post can reveal.
Internal records show the Minister for Enterprise undertook to encourage the commission to engage directly with TikTok during a meeting with company officials in March.
