The Strictly Come Dancing star plays the iconic role of Miss Hannigan in the stage show Annie, which will run at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre until September 2nd
Craig Revel Horwood has told how he’s “living the dream at the moment” playing Annie’s Miss Hannigan.
The musical is set in New York City in the 1930s, during The Great Depression. It follows Annie, a brave young girl who is living a life of torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. “What is fantastic about playing her is that she’s hungover in every scene — and it’s just really good fun to play.Craig added that while Easy Street is “quite dark”, it’s one of his favourite songs to be a part of.
“I have developed Miss Hannigan over the years. It’s nowhere near what it was when I did it in 2015. I think you learn so much more about the character and the part once you’ve had time away from it, and then you come back and revisit it. Craig — who directed Strictly Ballroom The Musical, which landed in Dublin earlier this year — opened up about whether he’s got a preference for performing or directing and choreographing.
