Crews were called to the incident just after 7am on Tuesday . The exact details of where the smoke is coming from is expected to be confirmed in due course. No injuries have been reported.
A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We are just in attendance at the Cornerhouse - at the moment we have not got a lot of details. We have got smoke issuing, we believe, from the building. But we have not long been there, we have not got full details." Crews from the London Road and Stockhill fire stations are at the scene. Some traffic disruption has been reported in the area.
According to Nottingham Travelwise, the city council's traffic monitoring Twitter account, one lane of two is blocked at the junction of South Sherwood Street and Forman Street. "Please take extra care if you are travelling through the area this morning and allow extra time for your journey," Nottingham Travelwise said in a tweet.
The Cornerhouse, a multi-use entertainment complex, is home to a number of high street restaurants, as well as Cineworld and The Lost City Adventure Golf. This is a live, breaking news incident. Follow our blog for updates.
